About PowerCalcLab
PowerCalcLab is an independent site publishing calculators for batteries, solar, inverters and power systems. It exists because most online calculators return a number with no formula, no assumptions and no indication of how wrong that number could be.
What it covers
The current focus is battery energy, capacity and runtime, plus the power conversions those calculations depend on. Solar, inverter and electronics tools are being added as each one reaches the same standard.
How the tools are built
Each calculator starts from a documented user task. The mathematics lives in plain TypeScript functions covered by unit tests, separate from the interface, and every formula and worked example on a page is checked against those same functions. Reference tables are generated by the calculation code rather than typed by hand, so a table and the tool it sits under cannot disagree.
Engineering facts are taken from standards bodies, manufacturer documentation and recognised technical references, and the sources are listed on each page. The methodology page describes the process in detail.
What this site is not
- It is not a design service. Calculator output is an estimate for planning, not a substitute for a qualified review of a real installation.
- There are no invented credentials here — no fictional review board, no fabricated ratings and no claimed certifications.
- There is no account system, no email wall and no paid tier for the calculators.
Corrections
If you find an error in a formula, an assumption or a source, please get in touch. Corrections to the mathematics take priority over everything else on the roadmap.
